A single act of kindness can create momentum far beyond its origin. Jonathan Jerome has spent more than two decades transforming that belief into coordinated impact for military families nationwide. Jerome, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Heroes Care, leads one of the largest military nonprofits in the United States, building an organization devoted to serving active-duty personnel, veterans and their families with dignity and decisive support.

Jerome’s professional foundation was established in the phone collections industry, where he earned recognition for evaluating needs, guiding large teams and implementing innovative strategies that improved outcomes while maintaining respect. The events of September 11, 2001 reshaped his direction. When his family began sending care packages to deployed soldiers during the invasion of Iraq, thirteen boxes quickly multiplied into thousands. What began as a family effort evolved into Heroes Care.

As military relationships expanded, deeper challenges surfaced. Jerome responded by assembling a strong board, mobilizing volunteers and constructing infrastructure capable of sustained service. The Mission Depot became a flagship initiative, providing military families access to new clothing, household goods, groceries and essentials at no cost. Understanding how financially stretched many families are strengthened his resolve to deliver support discreetly and honorably.

Between 2023 and 2025, service levels rose significantly, with thousands of clients supported annually. Additional programs include Benefits Guidance, Emergency Financial Aid, Suits for Soldiers, Creation of Wills and care packages distributed domestically and internationally. Recognizing a troubling rise in military suicides, Heroes Care partnered with local foundations to launch the H.E.R.O.E.S. Care Counseling Program in mid-2025. What began with one counselor expanded to multiple mental health professionals providing confidential support, including plans for group sessions that foster connection and reduce isolation.

Corporate partnerships remain central to the model. Relationships with organizations such as Amazon and Delivering Goods generate consistent in-kind donations that keep the Mission Depot stocked and free financial resources for direct assistance. During regional disasters, truckloads of essential supplies have been deployed within days. SecureHope, the organization’s collaborative referral software, further strengthens response capabilities by connecting nonprofits and agencies for faster coordinated action.

Volunteers form the backbone of Heroes Care. With a small paid staff, donated hours each year equate to the work of a large professional team. Recruitment efforts now focus on younger volunteers and retirees to ensure continuity and expanded capacity. Recent collaboration with university students strengthened social media strategy and outreach.

Jerome’s proudest achievements include having resources in place that helped prevent dozens of suicides and providing marriage counseling to hundreds of Guard members and spouses. Honors from military and civic organizations affirm his influence, yet he consistently credits the collective effort of the Heroes Care family.

Recognition as a Titan 100 Honoree reflects leadership defined by humility and resolve. Energized by conversations with service members and inspired by their resilience, Jerome continues building a national network so no soldier or veteran ever feels alone.
